Bryan College Women's Soccer Falls 4-0 to Columbia International in Road Match

COLUMBIA, SC – Bryan College's women's soccer team struggled offensively in a 4-0 road loss to Columbia International University on Saturday afternoon, managing just one shot on goal in the 90-minute contest.

The Rams (9-1-1, 6-0-1) controlled play from the opening whistle, outshooting the visiting Bryan squad 29-1 and earning nine corner kicks compared to zero for the visitors. Despite the lopsided shot count, Bryan goalkeeper Ava Hooks kept her team in the match through the first half with four saves, including stops on dangerous attempts from CIU's Lohrane Boaventura and Charlotte Craver.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 68th minute when Nicole Matijow found the back of the net unassisted for her first goal of the match. Columbia International quickly pulled away with three more goals in the final 20 minutes. Lily Jackson added two goals with assists from Mazzie Leos (74:49) and Lohrane Boaventura (86:03), while Charlotte Craver scored off an Aubrey Taylor assist at the 77:50 mark.

Bryan's lone shot on target came from Madison Parker in the 38th minute, which was saved by CIU goalkeeper Hailey Resetar. The Bryan College defense, anchored by Hooks who finished with eight saves, managed to limit the damage despite facing constant pressure throughout the match.

The loss drops Bryan College to 0-9-1 overall and 0-7-0 in conference play as they continue to search for their first victory of the season. Columbia International, meanwhile, improved to 9-1-1 overall and remained unbeaten in conference action at 6-0-1.

The Lady Lions will look to bounce back as they host Bob Jones University on Monday in a home contest.
