Bryan Lady Lions Dominate Cumberland in Home Opener, 95-67

DAYTON, Tenn. – The Bryan College women's basketball team put on an offensive clinic Monday evening, rolling past Cumberland University 95-67 in their home opener at Summers Gymnasium.

The Lady Lions (1-0) established control early and never looked back, shooting an impressive 57.6% from the field while outscoring Cumberland 52-18 in the paint.
Molly Brown led all scorers with 18 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting performance, showcasing her versatility both inside and out by adding two three-pointers. Brown's dominance in the paint helped Bryan establish an inside presence that Cumberland struggled to contain throughout the contest.

"Fantastic start to open the season," said Head Coach Matt Bollant. "Jumping out to that 52-24 halftime lead showed we were locked in. I couldn't be prouder of the energy we brought and the way everyone came together."

Autumn Davis contributed 9 points, while Kadee Ferrell added 8 points and 5 rebounds. Alivia Hall provided a spark off the bench with 8 points, including a crucial three-pointer.

The Lady Lions burst out of the gates with a 25-13 first quarter advantage and extended their lead to 52-25 by halftime. Cumberland attempted to mount a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Bryan 27-19, but the Lady Lions responded emphatically with a 24-point fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Bryan's bench proved to be a significant difference-maker, outscoring Cumberland's reserves 51-29. The Lady Lions also capitalized on their defensive pressure, converting 19 Cumberland turnovers into 20 points while forcing the Phoenix into a difficult shooting night at just 28.6% from the field.

For Cumberland (1-1), Ty Buckley led the way with 14 points despite struggling from the field, while Braley Bushman added 14 points off the bench. Emaleigh Tarpley chipped in 11 points in the losing effort.

The Lady Lions will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season. The Lady Lions will head to Brescia this weekend as they compete in the Kentucky Blue Grass Classic.
