Dayton, TN- All five Bryan starters scored in double figures on Saturday afternoon to lead the Lions past the Milligan Buffaloes 88-75. The win moves the Lions to 11-9 overall and 9-8 in the conference putting them in fifth place.
Caleb Grimes would lead the way for Bryan with 18 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, along with 3 steals.
The Lions would only lead by three at halftime 39-36, but would shoot 59% from the floor and 83.3% from the free throw line and put up 49 points in the 2nd half.
Grimes was joined in the double digit club by sophomore Dalen Gales (17), freshman Caden Johnson (14), junior Josh Baugher (12), and junior Kheller Die (10). Baugher would collect his third double-double of the season by adding 12 rebounds to his 12 points.
The Lions shot 19-23 from the free throw line compared to the Buffs 6-9. Bryan also out rebounded Milligan 34-30.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half:
- The Lions took an early lead 23-15 after a Caleb Grimes steal led to a monster Caleb Grimes dunk.
- Milligan's Follie Bogan would finish the half strong scoring 13 of the last 15 Buffalo points.
- Logan Allen and Caden Johson would help retain the Bryan 1st half lead by scoring the last 15 points for Bryan.
2nd Half:
- A Caden Johnson Jumper at the 11:26 mark would give the Lions their fist double digit lead 56-45.
- After a 30 second Kole Torres series of: a made three, a steal, into another made three with 7:06 left in the game to take a 69-54 lead, all but sealed it.
