Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Lions Down Upike at Home

DAYTON, TN- The Bryan College Women's Basketball team took the court against the University of Pikeville Bears Tuesday night in a top 4 conference matchup. The Lady Lions started 2024 off by downing UPike 80-68 off big 20 point performances from Seniors Samantha Russell and Allissa Mulaski.

It was another big start for the Lions as Allissa Mulaski knocked two 3s and a pair of layups in the 1st, helping Bryan get out to an early 19-15 lead going into the second quarter. After the Bears seemed to be making a move early in the 2nd, it was a Hennessee to Russell combo that led the Lions on an 13-0 run to extend the lead out to 33-20. After some more points in the paint, the Lions took a 46-33 headed into half time. Hennessee filled the stat line once again with 18 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals.

In the 3rd, the Lady Lions put the pressure on attacking the paint and getting to the free throw line. Leading the way was Sam Russell who went 5-5 from the free throw line in the 3rd quarter. The Lions headed into the 4th with a 63-48 lead. Early in the 4th the Bears turned on the pressure and went on a 10-0 run of their own. But it was a Torie Brooks corner three at the 6:08 mark that ended the Bears run. The Lions never looked back and finished off the night with an 80-68 win.

With the win, Bryan moves to 11-4 overall and 9-1 in the AAC. UPIKE goes to 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the AAC.

Looking Forward: The Lady Lions go on the road to Columbia, SC Thursday 1/4 at 5:30 PM to take on Columbia College.
