Lady Lions Sweep Golden Tigers in Doubleheader at Home

DAYTON, Tenn. - Bryan College softball delivered a strong showing at home on Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader against Brenau University with a 5-4 Game 1 victory followed by a 7-3 win in Game 2. Bryan improved its record with a pair of hard-fought wins, using timely hitting and solid pitching performances to secure the sweep.

Game One: Bryan 5, Brenau 4
Bryan jumped ahead early with a three-run third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Brooklyn Malone that gave the Lions early control.

Brenau responded in the sixth inning, capitalizing on a series of defensive miscues to plate four runs and take a 4-3 lead heading into the final frame.

The Lions answered when it mattered most.In the bottom of the seventh, Maddie Lee delivered a clutch RBI double to tie the game, and Madison Carpenter followed with a walk-off RBI single to seal the 5-4 comeback victory.

Malone led the offense with two RBIs, while Kaycee Baldwin added two hits and two runs scored. Lee also contributed two hits in the win.

In the circle, KP Smith was dominant despite the late inning trouble, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while allowing just five hits.

Game Two: Bryan 7, Brenau 3
Bryan carried its momentum into Game 2, using a big middle-inning surge to complete the sweep. After trailing 3-1 early, the Lions erupted for four runs in the fourth inning. Lakyn Lockhart, Ava Saul, and Kaycee Baldwin each delivered key RBI hits in the frame to flip the game in Bryan's favor.

Bryan added two more runs in the fifth inning, with Lockhart driving in a pair to extend the lead to 7-3 and put the game out of reach.

Lockhart led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Baldwin added two hits and two RBIs. Maddie Lee was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 and also earning the win in the circle.
Lee pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out six.

Tuesday's doubleheader was a complete team effort from the Lions. Between KP Smith's eleven-strikeout masterpiece in game one and Maddie Lee's efficient seven-inning outing in game two, Bryan's pitching staff carried the load when it mattered most. The offense showed it can win in multiple ways, whether grinding through a deficit on errors and stolen bases or putting up a big crooked number when the moment calls for it. With the sweep, Bryan improves to 21-15 overall and 11-5 in conference play. The Lions have their eyes set on something special as the postseason approaches.
