Bryan Lions Go 1-2 In Weekend Series with Reinhardt

DAYTON, Tenn. — The Bryan College Lions baseball team went 2-1 against the Reinhardt Eagles in a three-game series at Senter Field over the weekend, moving to 11-11 on the season and 5-4 in conference play.

Game 1: Bryan wins 5-4 in pitching duel
In the series opener Friday afternoon, Bryan edged Reinhardt 5-4 in a tight, well-played game. Second baseman Denajh Williams was the offensive star, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Morgan Halliday also went deep, adding a solo shot in the second inning.

Bryan jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through five innings but needed to hold off a late Reinhardt rally. The Eagles scored three runs in the ninth on a two-run double by Charles Smith and an RBI single from Cade Chamlee, but left the tying run on base.

Tanner Everett was dominant on the mound, earning the win (3-0) after tossing 8.2 innings and striking out seven without issuing a walk. Ryan Ely closed out the final out.

Game 2: Reinhardt rallies to win 11-8
The Eagles took Game 2 in a high-scoring affair Friday evening, scoring 11 runs to Bryan's 8. Reinhardt used a big first inning — capped by a Louis Dion three-run homer — to build an early lead and never fully surrendered it despite Bryan surging to a 5-3 advantage after the first inning.

Brodie Genter drove in three runs with a first-inning home run for Bryan, and Will Curcio added two RBIs. However, Reinhardt's bats stayed hot throughout, and Bryan's pitching staff — cycling through five pitchers — couldn't slow them down.

Bryan starting pitcher Ty Johnson took the loss, allowing six earned runs in two innings. The Lions stranded 11 runners on base.

Game 3: Reinhardt completes comeback to win 10-8
Saturday's rubber match was the most dramatic of the series and ended in heartbreak for the Lions. Bryan built an 8-4 lead through four innings, but Reinhardt exploded for four runs in the sixth — aided by two Bryan errors — to tie the game at 8-8. Miguel Salazar then hit a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh, and Brock Sisson added an insurance shot in the ninth to hand Bryan a 10-8 loss.

Morgan Halliday was outstanding for the Lions despite the defeat, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Brodie Genter also went deep and scored twice. But Bryan's pitching staff couldn't hold the lead, cycling through five arms and ultimately allowing Reinhardt to overcome a four-run deficit.

Chris Hall took the loss after surrendering the go-ahead home run to Salazar in the seventh. The defeat dropped Bryan to 11-11 on the season and 5-4 in conference play.

The Lions return to action next week looking to bounce back from the series loss. They will host Cumberland University on Tuesday.
