WALESKA, Ga. – The Bryan College men's basketball team struggled to find offensive rhythm in a 71-50 loss to Reinhardt University on Saturday evening.
The Lions (9-15, 7-10) kept pace with the Eagles in the first half, trailing by just one point at the break, 27-26. However, Reinhardt (8-15, 7-9) dominated the second half, outscoring Bryan 44-24 to pull away for the 21-point victory.
Bryan showed resilience in the opening period, with junior guard
Kole Torres leading the charge. Torres knocked down three first-half three-pointers and finished with nine points before intermission, helping the Lions stay competitive despite shooting just 38.5% from the field.
The Lions' largest lead came at 16-6 with 12:55 remaining in the first half following a
Cal Drake dunk assisted by Torres. However, Reinhardt chipped away at the deficit, eventually taking a slim one-point advantage into halftime.
The wheels came off for Bryan in the second half as the Eagles dominated on both ends of the floor. Reinhardt shot an impressive 65.2% from the field after intermission while holding the Lions to just 28% shooting.
Reinhardt's Tee Williams was unstoppable, scoring 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half. The Eagles extended their lead to as many as 28 points late in the game.
Despite the loss, Bryan received solid contributions from several players. Torres finished with a team-high nine points and added three assists and four steals.
Ty Gibbs also scored nine points, while
Haydn Moten contributed seven points, two assists, and two steals in 28 minutes.
Riley Holliman provided a spark off the bench, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and finishing with six points in just nine minutes of action.
The statistical story told the tale of two halves. Bryan shot 33.3% from the field for the game and struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 4-of-22 three-point attempts (18.2%). The Lions were outrebounded 37-27 and committed 11 turnovers.
The Lions will look to regroup as they continue conference play. Bryan will need to find more consistent offensive production and improve their defensive intensity to get back in the win column.
