Lady Lions' Forced Turnovers Leads to Dominant Win Over Union Commonwealth 88-58

DAYTON, Tenn. – The Bryan College Lady Lions put on an impressive defensive performance Wednesday night, forcing 40 turnovers en route to an 88-58 rout of Union Commonwealth at Summers Gymnasium.

Bryan (19-5, 16-2) turned relentless defensive pressure into offensive opportunities, converting Union Commonwealth's miscues into 48 points off turnovers – more than doubling the visitors' total of 9.

"I thought we battled and showed a great response tonight, after Saturday's game," said Head Coach Matt Bollant. "Several individuals stepped up and played really well, and we finished 28 steals while forcing 40 turnovers - both season highs," he continued.

The Lady Lions used a balanced scoring attack with six players reaching double figures. Ashlyn Plott led the way with 11 points on efficient 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Brooklyn Stinnett and Ellie Graham each added 10 points, while Molly Brown, Leah Stinnett, and Ruby Cox contributed 9 apiece.

Graham was particularly effective as a facilitator, dishing out 4 assists to go along with her 10 points. The Lady Lions registered 22 assists as a team compared to just 13 for Union Commonwealth, showcasing their unselfish ball movement.

Bryan's bench proved decisive, outscoring Union Commonwealth's reserves 65-21. The depth allowed the Lady Lions to maintain their defensive pressure throughout the game. Leah Stinnett was a defensive catalyst with 6 steals, while Graham added 6 of her own. As a team, Bryan recorded 28 steals, overwhelming the Bulldogs (6-16, 5-10).

Rachel Smith led Union Commonwealth with 11 points, including three fourth-quarter three-pointers. Kylie Noe and Ella Coffey each added 10 points in the losing effort, but the Bulldogs' 40 turnovers proved insurmountable.

Bryan controlled the boards 34-30 and dominated the paint, outscoring the visitors 36-24 in the lane. The Lady Lions also held a significant advantage in fast-break points (14-4) and second-chance points (16-7).

After trailing briefly in the first quarter, Bryan seized control and never looked back. The Lady Lions led 19-12 after one quarter, extended it to 41-19 at halftime, and cruised to the 30-point victory.

Bryan College returns to action on Saturday as they hit the road to Columbia International.
