Lions Drop Road Contest Against #2 University of the Cumberlands

Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Bryan College's men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat to the #2 University of the Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Lions to 0-5-0 on the season.

The Patriots (3-1-2) dominated from the opening whistle, scoring three goals in the first half to take control of the match. Bruno Marques led Cumberlands' offensive attack with two goals, while Patrick Ostergreen and Luca Piazza each added one.

Cumberlands struck early, finding the back of the net just 66 seconds into the match when Marques scored his first goal of the game, assisted by Hugo Champalloux and Ryota Nakamura. The Patriots doubled their advantage in the 10th minute as Ostergreen scored his first goal of the season with help from Antonis Seraphides.

Marques added his second goal of the match in the 17th minute, again assisted by Champalloux along with Ostergreen, to give Cumberlands a commanding 3-0 halftime lead. The Patriots completed their scoring in the 75th minute when Piazza netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Ostergreen.

Bryan College struggled to generate offensive opportunities throughout the contest, managing just two shots compared to Cumberlands' 15. The Lions' best chance came in the 47th minute when Ivan Kalynovskyi's shot was saved by Patriots goalkeeper Zachary Dean.

Goalkeeper Justus Feit made four saves for Bryan College but suffered his fifth loss of the season. Martin Gomez started in goal for Cumberlands before being replaced by Dean at halftime, with Dean earning the victory after making one save.

Despite being outshot and outplayed for much of the contest, Bryan College will look to bounce back from this setback as they continue their search for their first victory of the season.

The Lions will return to action as they continue their campaign, hoping to turn around what has been a challenging start to the 2025 season. The will pick back up with conference play on Wednesday at Milligan University.
