Pikeville, Ky. – The Bryan College Lions dropped their conference opener 1-0 to the University of Pikeville Bears on Saturday afternoon in Pikeville, KY, falling to 0-1-0 in conference play.
Pikeville dominated possession throughout the match, outshooting Bryan 20-1 and earning nine corner kicks to Bryan's zero. Bears goalkeeper Alejandro Iglesias needed to make just one save, while Bryan's
Justus Feit was kept busy with eight saves to keep his team in the game.
The lone goal came in the 72nd minute when Bruno Arenal found the back of the net off an assist from Oliver Fausel, breaking the scoreless deadlock that had persisted through most of the contest. Bryan struggled to generate offensive opportunities, managing just one shot on goal from
Dylan Moedano in the 80th minute.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue their season. They will be heading to Lebanon, TN on Tuesday to compete in a non-conference match up with the Cumberland University Phoenix.
