Presley, Hogrefe Lead Lions to Split at Brenau

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Bryan Lions softball team bounced back in a big way on Tuesday, responding to a Game 1 loss with a dominant 8–1 win in Game 2 to split the road doubleheader against Brenau University.

In the opener, Aubree Presley provided all the offense for the Lions, going 3-for-3 with a solo homer and an RBI single. Bryan kept things close throughout, trailing just 3–2 after six innings before the Tigers pulled away late with a three-run sixth to take Game 1, 6–2.

Game 2 was a different story. The Lions came out swinging, plating three runs in the first thanks to Presley and a two-run double by Denver Hogrefe. Presley stayed red-hot, finishing 3-for-3 again with a walk, an RBI single in the fifth, and a solo homer in the seventh.

Hogrefe followed with a two-run shot of her own in the seventh, and Savanna Schaffer capped off the four-run inning with an RBI double. Addison Bunty, Savannah Beard, and Maddie Lee also chipped in hits as the Lions totaled 12 knocks in the win.

In the circle, Kayleigh Smith tossed a complete game gem in Game 2, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven. Hogrefe also went the distance in Game 1, striking out five over six innings.

The Lions move to 23–12 overall and 15–7 in AAC play as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
