Bryan Women's Basketball Falls to #6 Freed-Hardeman 65-55

Henderson, Tenn. - The Bryan College Lady Lions (2-2) suffered their second loss of the season, falling to sixth ranked Freed-Hardeman (5-0) by a score of 65-55 on Saturday afternoon at the Brewer Sports Center.

Bryan came out strong in the first quarter, taking a 23-20 lead behind a balanced offensive attack. However, the Lady Lions struggled mightily in the second quarter, managing just seven points while shooting 28.6% from the field. Freed-Hardeman capitalized on Bryan's cold spell, taking a 36-30 halftime lead.

The Lady Lions fought back in the third quarter with 18 points, making 46.2% of their field goals and connecting on 50% from three-point range. Despite the improved shooting, Bryan couldn't complete the comeback, scoring only seven points in the final quarter while shooting a dismal 13.3% from the field.

Kaylynn Walls led Bryan with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including three three-pointers. She also grabbed four rebounds and recorded two steals in 39 minutes of action. Autumn Davis added 10 points, while Kadee Ferrell added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds while playing 16 minutes off the bench in the second half.

The game was decided by shooting efficiency and turnovers. Bryan shot just 34.5% from the field compared to Freed-Hardeman's 44.9%. The Lady Lions also committed 20 turnovers compared to 18 for the home team.

Bryan's bench contributed only 10 points, while Freed-Hardeman's reserves poured in 35 points, with the Satterly sisters leading the way.

The Lady Lions did excel at the free-throw line, converting 13-of-14 attempts (92.9%), but it wasn't enough to overcome their shooting struggles from the field.

"The energy from Freed's homecoming crowd was electric, I'm really proud of our team and the way that they played," said head coach Matt Bollant. "To be down 2 points going into the 4th quarter against a nationally ranked team, was huge for us," he noted.

Bryan will look to bounce back as they gear up for conference play this week.
