KNOXVILLE, TN – The Bryan College cross country teams delivered impressive performances at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship, with both squads climbing in the conference standings and several individuals earning postseason honors.
Women's Team Breaks School Record
The Lady Lions showed significant improvement, jumping from eighth place to seventh at the conference meet. The team was led by a historic performance from
Carissa Wilson, who not only broke the school record but also earned Second Team All-Conference honors for her efforts.
In a remarkable display of talent and determination, both
Carissa Wilson and
Emily Cathey ran under the previous school record, marking a milestone moment for the Bryan College women's program. Their performances highlighted the team's growth and competitiveness within the conference.
"To have two athletes run under the school record in the same race shows the level of excellence our women's program is reaching," noted head coach Jasper Wilson. Carissa's Second Team All-Conference recognition further validates her outstanding season and leadership for the Lady Lions.
Men's Team Makes Strong Move
The Bryan College men's team made an even more dramatic leap, improving from seventh place to fifth in the conference standings. The Lions demonstrated depth and competitive fire throughout the championship race.
Freshman
Tayven Guthrie stood out among the men's competitors, earning AAC All-Freshman honors for his exceptional debut season. Guthrie's recognition highlights the bright future ahead for the Bryan College men's program.
