Lady Lions Roll Past Union Commonwealth 80-60 in Conference Matchup

BARBOURVILLE, KY – The Bryan College Lady Lions improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play with a commanding 80-60 victory over Union Commonwealth on Saturday afternoon.

Bryan dominated from the opening tip, establishing an early lead and never looking back. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 15-11 advantage after the first quarter and steadily extended their margin throughout the game, building leads as large as 24 points in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Lions received contributions from across the roster, with their bench outscoring Union Commonwealth's reserves 47-26. Five Bryan players scored in double figures, showcasing the team's offensive depth.

Ashlan Crittenden, Molly Brown, and Ashlyn Plott each poured in 10 points to lead the balanced attack. Alivia Hall added 9 points, while Kadee Ferrell contributed 7 points and a team-high 7 rebounds.

"We had a tough shooting night—especially from three—but still found a way to win by 16 on the road," said head coach Matt Bollant. "We dominated the rebounding battle and finished +13 in turnovers, which really swung the game. I'm proud of the way we played" he continued.

Bryan's defense was the catalyst for the victory, forcing 29 turnovers while committing just 16 of their own. The Lady Lions converted those mistakes into 33 points off turnovers, compared to just 14 for Union Commonwealth.

The Lady Lions also dominated in the paint, outscoring their opponents 48-26 in that area. Bryan's aggressive rebounding led to an 11-2 advantage in second-chance points, as they pulled down 42 rebounds to Union Commonwealth's 25.

Despite shooting just 42.9% from the field and 20% from three-point range, Bryan's offensive efficiency in other areas more than compensated. The Lady Lions attacked the basket relentlessly, attempting 26 free throws and converting 16 of them.

With the victory, Bryan College maintains its perfect conference record and builds momentum as the season progresses. The Lady Lions' combination of balanced scoring, defensive pressure, and bench production suggests a team hitting its stride at the right time.
