Bryan Lions Dominate Bluefield with 5-0 Victory to Earn First Win of the Season

DAYTON, Tenn. – The Bryan College Lions put on an offensive clinic Wednesday afternoon, overwhelming Bluefield College 5-0 in a decisive conference matchup that showcased the home team's attacking prowess.

Bryan controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the visitors 32-10 and putting constant pressure on Bluefield's defense throughout the 90 minutes.

The Lions received scoring contributions from four different players in the dominant victory. Josh Hernandez opened the scoring in the 19th minute with an unassisted goal, giving Bryan an early 1-0 lead and setting the tone for the afternoon.

Sammy Gomez made it 2-0 just before halftime, finishing off a feed from Carson Haiflich in the 39th minute to send the Lions into the break with a comfortable advantage.

The second half saw Bryan continue to pour it on. Stone Davies netted two goals, finding the back of the net in the 47th and 71st minutes. Davies also contributed an assist, finishing the day with three points.

Jonathan Castro capped the scoring in the 76th minute off an assist from Davies to complete the five-goal outburst. Gomez finished with a goal and an assist in the winning effort.

While the offense grabbed headlines, goalkeeper Justus Feit had a relatively quiet afternoon, making four saves in the shutout victory. The Lions' defense limited Bluefield to just four shots on goal, with the visitors unable to generate sustained offensive pressure.

Bluefield goalkeeper Stanton Cerda faced a barrage of shots, making 11 saves in a valiant effort to keep his team in the match. Despite his heroics, the Lions' offensive firepower proved too much to handle.

Bryan dominated possession and territorial advantage, earning 15 corner kicks compared to just two for Bluefield. The Lions maintained their composure despite picking up four yellow cards during the physical contest.

Bryan College will look to build on this momentum in their next outing as they host Montreat for Homecoming Weekend.
