PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — The Bryan College women's golf team faced stiff competition at the UPIKE Fall Invite, finishing fourth in a challenging four-team field at Stonecrest Golf Course.
Junior
Maddie Hughes led the Lady Lions with a seventh-place finish among 21 golfers, posting rounds of 86-87 for a two-round total of 29-over-par 173. Hughes' steady play set the tone for a team that battled through difficult course conditions and continues to build chemistry.
Jocelyn Lenix and
Jessica Frizzell followed in 16th and 17th place, respectively. Lenix carded rounds of 100-92 for a 48-over 192, showing marked improvement in her second round, while Frizzell posted 98-96 for a 50-over 194.
Leah Sullivan rounded out the Lady Lions' scorecard at 51-over 195 (105-90), saving her best golf for the final round with a 15-stroke improvement.
Despite the results not reflecting their goals, the Lady Lions demonstrated resilience and found positives to build upon. Sullivan's dramatic turnaround in the second round and the team's collective determination signal a squad that refuses to be defined by one tournament.
With each competitive round, this young Lady Lions squad is gaining valuable experience that will pay dividends down the stretch.
