DAYTON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Brenau University on Friday evening at Summers Gymnasium, falling 25-19, 25-18, 25-21.
The loss drops Bryan to 2-25 overall and 1-10 in conference play, while Brenau improved to 10-8 and 7-3 in league action.
Bryan struggled offensively throughout the match, hitting just .028 as a team compared to Brenau's .183 attack percentage. The Lions were particularly challenged in the opening set, recording a -.065 hitting percentage with 12 attack errors.
Shelby Kelly led Bryan with six kills but committed 10 errors on 36 attempts.
Leah Lindquist added four kills, while
Bella Beard and
Maddison Seabolt each contributed to the offensive effort with five and three kills, respectively.
Libero
Avery Baxter paced the defense with nine digs and added two service aces.
Elise Brew recorded a team-high 12 digs in the back row.
Maya Gipson distributed 10 assists while adding three digs.
For Brenau, Claire Beckman led the way with nine kills on a highly efficient .615 hitting percentage. Alyssa Evans contributed eight kills and 11 digs, while setter Nathalia Quintero orchestrated the offense with 30 assists and added four service aces.
Bryan will look to regroup as they continue their conference schedule. They will host a tri-match at home on Saturday with Reinhardt and (RV) Lindsey Wilson.
