Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Lions Show Great ‘Hardt’ As They Defeat Unbeaten Eagles on Valentines’ Day

Dayton, TN - The Bryan College Women's Basketball took on Reinhardt University on Wednesday night. The Eagles entered the game unbeaten at 23-0. Each team stood one game away from the other at 1st and 2nd in the AAC respectively.

The first quarter began as a defensive battle. Both teams are used to scoring buckets in droves. However, it was anything but a high scoring affair as the first quarter ended 16-13 in favor of the Eagles. Bryan's leading scorers Samantha RussellTorie Brooks, and Kaitlynn Hennessee were unusually quiet early on. Instead, Senior Neveah Majors and Sophomore Kadee Ferrell led the Lady Lions with 4 points each respectively.

The second quarter continued to be a back and forth affair with neither team being able to pull away. Senior Samantha Russell came alive in the second knocking down two triples and finishing with 10 first half points. The Lady Lions took the lead late with a Russell jumper and Mulaski steal leading to a Neveah Majors layup. Bryan entered the half up 32-28.

The second half provided many exciting moments and was nothing short of dramatic. The game came down to the wire with Bryan leading the contest 66-62 with close to a minute to go. A shooting foul call against the Eagles led to Coach Tony Campbell drawing a technical foul. Alissa Mulaski stepped up to the line and drilled all four free throws, sealing the game. The Lady Lions ended Reinhardt's unbeaten season, winning the game 72-65.

Result: With the win Bryan moves up to 21-5 and 19-1 in the AAC. Reinhardt falls to 23-1 and 19-1 in the AAC.

Looking Forward: The Lady Lions will be on the road Saturday 2/17 at 2 PM vs the KCU Knights.
