Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lions Lose Nailbiter to CIU

Dayton, TN-  The Bryan College Men's Basketball Team took on the visiting CIU Rams on Saturday Afternoon. In a back and forth defensive battle, the Lions fell 55-54.

After the Lions got down 21-10 in the first half it was a Kole Torres three from the wing that sparked a 17-6 to end the half and tie the game at 27-27 going into halftime. Both teams locked in defensively holding both teams' shooting percentages below 40% from the field in the first half.

The Rams came out of the half to take an early 38-31 lead, but the Lions would rally back. After a steal and fast break pull up jumper by Senior Caleb Grimes, followed up by a jumper from Dalen Gales the Lions could cut the lead to one 38-37.

Both teams would go back and forth throughout the half. CIU would eventually take a 4 point lead with just over a minute to go. But with 50 seconds left, it was a Logan Allen three from the wing that gave the Lions life, cutting the lead back to one 53-52. Logan Allen would have a team high and a personal season high of 15 points.

After a series of layups from both teams, the Lions forced the Rams into a one and one free throw scenario down 55-54 with 4.9 seconds left. After the Rams shooter missed the front end, Josh Baugher would grab the defensive rebound and kick it up court to Dalen Gales for one final shot from 25 feet that would just rim out.
The Lions are now 9-9 overall and 7-8 in the AAC. CIU goes to 12-7 overall and 11-4 in the AAC.
