Kingsport, TN - The Bryan College baseball team traveled to Kingsport to compete in the NAIA Opening Round. The Lions were set to take on Indiana Wesleyan at 3:00 PM. IWU was the first on the board early on after scoring 3 runs to give them an early lead. In the 2nd and 3rd innings the Wildcats extended their lead to 8 runs. The Lions responded in the 5th inning with a Danny Marquez solo homer to cut the lead down to 7. In the 6th inning Alex Rollins grounded out advancing Bryson Lofton to 3rd and scored Parker Cosby. Bass Cooper grounded out but was able to score a run to cut the lead down to 5.

The Lions were unable to rally enough despite the effort. Bryan falls to IWU 8-3 and will play Missouri Baptist again on May 17th at 11:00 AM to decide who advances onto the championship game.

• Bryson Lofton went 1 for 4 with 1 run. 
• Danny Marquez went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

NEXT TIME OUT

• The Lions will be back in action on May 17th at 11:00 AM to take on Missouri Baptist.
