Kingsport, TNÂ - The Bryan College baseball team traveled to Kingsport to compete in the NAIA Opening Round. The Lions were set to play Missouri Baptist for the first game of the tournament. Missouri Baptist was the first to strike in the 2nd inning with a sac-fly that brought in 1 run to give the Spartans an early lead. Bryan got on the board in the 4th inning with a single from
Owen Napieralski that advanced
Bradley Prince to 2nd and scored
Bryson Lofton.
Danny Marquez walked advancing Napieralski to 2nd and scored
Bradley Prince on a wild pitch.
Devin Ogg reached on an error that advanced
Dante Morton to 2nd, Marquez to 3rd, and scored Napieralski.
Parker Cosby singled to left field advancing Ogg to 2nd,
Kade Cohoon to 3rd, and scored Marquez.
Bryson Lofton walked advancing Cosby to 2nd, Ogg to 3rd, and scored Cohoon to give the Lions a 5-1 lead.Â
In the 7th inning Napieralski singled advancing Prince to 2nd and scored
Camden Fuquay. Ogg hit a sac-fly to bring in Prince. Cosby singled advancing Cohoon to 2nd and scored Napieralski to further extend the lead to 8-1. In the 8th inning Napieralski homered to left field bringing in
Daniel Dryden to give the Lions a 10-1 lead.
The Lions take down Missouri Baptist to play another day and to take on Indiana Wesleyan on May 16th at 3:00 PM.Â
