Columbia, SC - The Bryan College Softball team took on Columbia College in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 PM. For game 1, Bryan struck first with a double from Breanna Bumgardner to advance Aubree Presley to third and scoring Katie Dinger. Bryan scored again in the second and third innings. In the second inning, Ariel Holt homered. In the third, Aubree Presley homered bringing in Katie Dinger and Stephanie Blevins to go up 5-0. Columbia scored in the fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 1 still trailing 5-4. Bryan scored in the seventh inning with a solo homerun by Breanna Bumgardner to extend the lead. Columbia scored in the bottom half of the inning to take game 1 of the series 7-6.Â
For game 2, Carli LaRocque hit a 2-run homerun bringing in Lily Taylor. Katie Dinger singled advancing Stephanie Blevins and scored Ashley Twitty. Aubree Presley homered bringing in Dinger, Blevins, and Richards to take a commanding 7 run lead. Columbia would score in the second, third, and fifth innings to take the lead 9-7 going into the top of the seventh inning. Stephanie Blevins doubled bringing Ariel Holt. Katie Dinger singled bringing Blevins to tie things up going into the bottom half of the inning. In the eighth inning, Breanna Bumgardner singled advancing to second base on an error but was thrown out at third. Keanna Burd was able to score to retake the lead 10-9. Columbia scored in the eight inning on a walk off single to win 11-10 over the Lions.Â
