Williamsburg, KY - The Bryan College Softball team traveled to Williamsburg, KY to take on the University of the Cumberlands. For game 1 the Lady Lions struck first. A double by Breanna Bumgardner scored Lily Taylor to bring in the first run for the Lions in the second inning. Cumberlands would respond and score in the third inning to tie the game at 1. The Patriots would score again in the fourth inning to go ahead 3-1 over the Lions. Cumberlands picked up more runs in the fifth and sixth innings pushing the score to 9-1. The Patriots take game 1 of the doubleheader.Â
Bryan struck first in the first inning of the second game with a single by Katie Dinger who advanced on an error and was able to bring Mckayla Kirchoff home to score the first run of the game. Cumberlands would respond in the bottom half of the first inning and take the lead 3-1. Bryan scored again in the second inning with a solo homerun by Haley Stahl cutting the Patriot lead. Cumberlands would push their lead further ahead by scoring three runs in the third inning, 1 run in the fourth, 2 in the fifth inning, and finally 1 more in the sixth inning pushing the score to 10-2. The Patriots take game 2 of the doubleheader.Â
