Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Johnson’s 25 Carries Lions to Win

Dayton, TN-  The Bryan College Men's Basketball team stayed home on Wednesday to compete against the Montreat College Cavaliers. The Lions got a nice bounce back 86-54 win on the back of Senior Ian Johnson's team high 25 points.

Johnson, who was ready to rebound from a short shooting slump, took control early, knocking down a three at the 16:38 mark. That's all Johnson needed to get rolling, going on a 10–0 by himself to give Bryan a 14-4 lead with 14:08 left in first. Johnson led the way with 16 first half points and finished with 25 points (7 three pointers), 4 rebounds, and 2 assists (zero turnovers). That run continued as Jamari Bostic, Caden Johnson, Josh Baugher, and Dalen Gales also got in on the scoring action. But it was Bostic's monster help side block on Montreat's Tyler Murray with 2:00 minutes left that got the crowd roaring, and helped Bryan finish out the half with a 43-25 lead.

Johnson and Bostic kept form in the 2nd, coming out and hitting 3 big threes to stretch the lead to 20. Bostic finished with another double-double 21 points and 11 rebounds. After a big three from Kole Torres giving the Lions a comfortable 80-48 lead and the student section "requesting", Coach Don Reksoke emptied the bench and got some well earned minutes for Max Foster, James Nolan, Cal Drake, and Deion Subaran. The Lions finished out their final home game of the semester with an 86-54 win.

With the win Bryan moves to 4-4 in the AAC and 6-4 overall. Montreat falls to 4-5 overall in the AAC and 3-4 in the AAC.
