John Carrier is new to the Bryan College Athletics Staff as of April 2017 and will be serving as the Assistant Coach of the Men's Soccer Program.
The previous Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldog has converted to a Bryan Lion, and will be bringing a plethora of knowledge and experience to the Hill. Carrier starred as a player at Tennessee Wesleyan, helping turn a program around as the team reached the national tournament for the first time in more than 10 years. Carrier was a four-time all-conference 1st team selection, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of conference championships. A three-time NAIA All-East Region selection and Wesleyan player of the year, he led TWC in assists each of his four seasons and ranked in the top five in the country in assists in 2012. Carrier was also selected to the AAC all-tournament team and earned conference offensive player of the week honors.
Carrier played for Bridges FC in Chicago, Ill. his freshman year and currently competes with the Chattanooga FC since joining in 2013. A fan favorite, Carrier helped the team to three conference titles, two region championships, and two appearances in the national finals.
Prior to coming to Dayton, Carrier served as an assistant coach at Huntingdon College (Ala.) for one season before going to the University of Alabama Huntsville where he continued coaching from the assistant position for three years. Carrier helped UAH to a 10-6 mark in 2015, including a strong 7-1 streak at Charger Park and a second-place finish in the regular season with a 7-2 record in conference play. Under Carrier's mentorship, the team featured three all-region performers and six all-GSC selections.
In Carrier's first season with the Chargers, they posted an impressive 13-4-2 overall record and a perfect 8-0 record at home – while appearing in the national polls for the first time since the 1997 season that saw a 7-1 start to the season. Recognition of the team's notable play, UAH featured a conference-best seven all-GSC selections.
Carrier's soccer skills were sharpened during his youth in England when he attended the academy at Norwich City FC.
Carrier received his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Tennessee Wesleyan and master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama Huntsville.
