Sewanee, Tenn. - The Bryan Lions put together another strong performance at the Mount Laurel Open, highlighted by event wins, school records, and multiple personal bests as they continue to build momentum during the outdoor season.
In the field,
Cal Drake set the tone early with a commanding win in the high jump, clearing 2.02m to claim first place in the conference preview event — a strong statement heading into championship season.
The throws saw some of the most dramatic action of the afternoon.
Parker Cabe and
Caleb Johnson turned the javelin competition into a two-man showcase, trading big throws in what became a back-and-forth assault on the school record. When the dust settled, Cabe had claimed the record outright with a throw of 46.97m, while Johnson's 44.41m — good enough for 4th place — also surpassed the previous school mark. Both athletes secured AAC Championship qualifying marks, making it a doubly successful outing. The pair carried their momentum into the discus, where both posted personal bests. Johnson went a step further, breaking his own school record with a throw of 38.19m — his second school record of the day.
On the track,
Anthony Graybill turned in a sharp 10.86 in the 100m, a personal best that signals he's rounding into form at the right time of year.
Mathew Pfister added another personal best in the 200m, crossing in 22.63.
The day's most electric moment may have come in the 4x100m relay.
Zayne James,
Mathew Pfister,
Baron Bruehl, and
Anthony Graybill combined to run 43.65 — breaking the school record and capping off a meet that will be remembered as a landmark performance for the program.
