DAYTON, Tenn. — The Bryan College Lions women's basketball program is heading to Campbellsville, KY.
Bryan College has earned a berth in the 2026 NAIA Women's Basketball First Round presented by Ballogy, the NAIA announced this evening. The Lady Lions enter the tournament as a No. 15 seed and will face No. 2 seed Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky — a win-or-go-home matchup that puts Bryan in the role of underdog from the opening tip.
"We're really excited to be representing Bryan College in the National Tournament," said Head Coach
Matt Bollant. "Being close enough where friends and family can make the trip make it even better," he continued.
The Lady Lions are slotted in the Liston Quadrant, where they'll have to navigate a tough opening-round draw. Should Bryan pull off the upset against the Tigers, they could potentially see No. 7 seed LSU Shreveport (RV) or No. 10 seed Benedictine, KS (RV) further down the bracket.
Standing between Bryan and advancement is Campbellsville University (#5), a perennial powerhouse in NAIA women's basketball. The Tigers enter as a No. 2 seed and will have the advantage of playing on their home floor in Campbellsville, Kentucky — a factor that cannot be overlooked.
Earning a bid to the NAIA national tournament is no small feat. Bryan College earned a bid by being Regular Season Runners Up in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, a testament to the work put in all season by the Lions' players and coaching staff. Punching a ticket to the First Round is itself a milestone.
As a 15 seed, Bryan enters as one of the longest shots in their quadrant — but in single-elimination basketball, seeds are just numbers on a bracket. Every team in the field earned their spot, and every team believes they can make a run.
No. 7 seed LSU Shreveport brings the prestige and recruiting pull of a Louisiana program with postseason experience, while No. 10 seed Benedictine of Kansas is a scrappy mid-seed capable of knocking off a higher-ranked opponent. If Bryan can somehow find a way past Campbellsville, they would be walking into a bracket that remains very much up for grabs.
For the Bryan College women's basketball program, this tournament appearance is more than just a chance to win a game — it's proof of where the program is headed. Every minute played on the national stage adds to the program's reputation and gives current and future Lions something to build on.
The Lady Lions will need to bring everything they have when they tip off against the Tigers. The task is steep, the opponent is formidable, and the setting is away from home. But that's postseason basketball.
The Lady Lions will travel to Campbellsville, KY on March 13th to compete against #5 Campbellsville University. Tip off is slated for 5:00 PM (EST).
