CLEVELAND, GA. — Bryan College overwhelmed Truett McConnell 85-27 on Wednesday night, improving to 11-4 overall and a perfect 9-0 in conference play.
The Lions' defense was suffocating from the opening tip, holding the Bears to just 15% shooting from the field and forcing 28 turnovers. Truett McConnell went 0-for-11 from three-point range and managed only six field goals for the entire game.
Bryan's depth proved overwhelming, with reserves contributing 59 points compared to just 11 for Truett McConnell.
Kaylynn Walls led the bench brigade with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Brooklyn Stinnett added 11 points, while
Alivia Hall chipped in 8 points.
Kadee Ferrell paced the starters with 11 points and seven rebounds, shooting an efficient 5-of-8 from the field. The Lions' balanced attack featured 15 players seeing action, with 13 making it into the scoring column.
The Lady Lions' defense set the tone early, holding Truett McConnell scoreless from the field in the first quarter. The Bears' shooting woes continued throughout, as they shot just 8.3% in the third quarter and 14.3% in the fourth.
Bryan capitalized on Truett McConnell's struggles, scoring 30 points off turnovers while the Bears managed only six. The LadyLions also dominated in the paint (40-12), second-chance points (17-0), and fast break opportunities (8-2).
Bryan jumped out to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady Lions extended their advantage to 48-20 by halftime, then held Truett McConnell to just three points in the third quarter to build an insurmountable 65-23 lead heading into the final frame. The fourth quarter saw both teams empty their benches, with Bryan maintaining their dominant form to close out the 58-point victory — their largest lead of the game.
With the victory, Bryan maintains its unblemished conference record and continues to assert itself as a dominant force. The Lady Lions will look to extend their winning streak as they push through the heart of their conference schedule. They will host Milligan on Saturday for a conference battle. Tip off is set for 2:00 pm.
