Lions Fall to Truett McConnell 92-77 Despite Strong Bench Performance

CLEVELAND, GA – The Bryan College Lions dropped their second straight game Wednesday night, falling 92-77 to Truett McConnell in an AAC match up.

Despite a valiant effort from their reserves, who combined for 46 points, the Lions couldn't overcome a dominant second-half performance by the Bears, who shot an impressive 70.4% from the field after halftime.

Dalen Gales led Bryan with 23 points on 6-of-13 shooting, adding eight rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes off the bench. Derek Curtis also contributed significantly with 12 points on efficient 3-of-4 shooting, while Izaiha Bredwood chipped in 13 points and three steals.

The Lions trailed 42-34 at halftime after a competitive first period but couldn't find an answer for Truett McConnell's Jadon Yeh in the second half. Yeh finished with a game-high 28 points on a scorching 10-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. His 21-point second half helped the Bears pull away for the 15-point victory.

Bryan struggled to contain Truett McConnell's interior game, as the Bears dominated the paint 46-20 and converted that advantage into a commanding win. The Lions did show fight, converting 26 points off turnovers and getting solid contributions from their bench unit.

Nick Chambless provided a spark late with five points in 10 minutes, while Cal Drake added six points and six rebounds in 13 minutes of action.

The Lions will return to action on Saturday as they will host the Buffs of Milligan University.
