Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Lions Fall 6-1 to #15 Truett McConnell in Conference Play

CLEVELAND, GA - Bryan College women's soccer dropped a 6-1 decision to undefeated Truett McConnell on Tuesday at the TMU Soccer Complex, but found some positives to build on heading into the bulk of their conference schedule.

Ruth (Fish) Cook provided the highlight for the Lions, scoring in the 47th minute to get Bryan on the board. The unassisted goal cut Truett McConnell's lead to 2-1 at the time and showed the kind of individual quality that can make a difference in tight games. Bryan's goalkeepers faced heavy pressure throughout the match, with Truett McConnell outshooting the Lions 42-2. Ava Hooks made 9 saves in 69 minutes of work, while Katie Finch added 3 saves after coming on in the second half. Their combined 12 saves prevented what could have been a much larger margin of defeat.

Bryan also earned two corner kicks in the second half, creating their best scoring chances of the match during those set pieces.

The Lions (0-7-1, 0-5-0) face a challenging schedule but continue to compete in every match. Games against top teams like #15 Truett McConnell (7-0-1, 5-0-0) provide important experience for a program still building its foundation. Bryan will look to take the lessons learned from this match into their remaining conference games, where they'll aim to put together a complete 90-minute performance.

The Lions return to action for their next conference matchup against Columbia International on Saturday as they work to earn their first win of the season.
