Carissa Wilson has been named the AAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season following an outstanding performance at the Brevard XC Classic.
Despite weather delays that disrupted Friday evening's competition, Wilson delivered a career-defining race, clocking a personal best time of 19:18.28 in the 5K event. Her impressive performance stood out in a highly competitive field featuring runners from NCAA Division I, II, and III programs.
Wilson dominated the NAIA competition, finishing as the top NAIA runner while placing fifth overall among 103 female competitors. Her exceptional showing demonstrates the continued strength of her season. "Carissa has been training very hard all season, and this performance is the result of her dedication and mental toughness," said head coach Jasper Wilson. "To run a personal best under challenging conditions while competing against other talented programs in the region shows just how special an athlete she is. We're proud to see her hard work recognized with another weekly honor."
The recognition marks Wilson's second weekly honor this season, highlighting her consistent excellence and competitive spirit against tough competition.
