Lady Lions Drop Home Opener to Bluefield

DAYTON, Tenn. – Bryan College put up a valiant fight but came up just short in a thrilling four-set match against Bluefield on Friday evening at Summers Gymnasium. The Lions fell 1-3 (25-27, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25), but showed tremendous heart in pushing the Rams to the limit.

Despite the loss that moved Bryan to 1-16 overall and 0-1 in conference play, the Lions demonstrated significant improvement and competitive fire throughout the match. Bryan managed to steal the third set 25-23, breaking Bluefield's momentum and proving they could go toe-to-toe with the undefeated Rams.

Maddison Seabolt was outstanding for Bryan, recording nine kills on just 13 attempts for an exceptional .615 hitting percentage – the highest efficiency rate on either team. Sophomore Leah Lindquist led the Lions' offensive charge with a team-high 11 kills, while Presley Giglio contributed five kills and anchored the net defense with six block assists. Maya Gipson effectively ran Bryan's offense with 19 assists and added 13 digs for a strong all-around performance.

The Lady Lions are back in action on Saturday, September 20th as they take on the University of Pikeville Bears.
