Bryan College Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Bollant will be one of the featured speakers at the 2025 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Coaches Clinic, taking place April 24–25 at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, Indiana.
Coach Bollant will take the court Thursday evening, April 24, from 6:55 to 7:45 p.m., where he'll be breaking down his signature defensive system, known as "The Buzz"—a fast-paced, half-court trap that's helped his teams pressure opponents into tough decisions and turnovers.
In a recent sit-down, Coach Bollant shared how "The Buzz" has evolved over the years with different teams and levels of play. "It's an aggressive defense that really keeps offenses on their toes. We'll talk through some of the variations we've used and the reads our players make to keep the trap effective," he said.
This isn't Coach Bollant's first time at the IBCA Clinic—he previously spoke while coaching at Eastern Illinois. He now joins an impressive list of past presenters that includes names like Matt Painter, Brad Underwood, and Tamika Catchings.
The clinic features a strong lineup of college coaches again this year, including John Groce (Akron), Maria Marchesano (Purdue Fort Wayne), Brady Sallee (Ball State), Travis Steele (Miami University, OH), and more.
The event kicks off Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and wraps up Friday afternoon. Coaches looking to attend can register at in.nhsbca.org — the cost is $50 for current IBCA members and $100 for non-members.
Coach Bollant's session will be a great opportunity for coaches to learn how to add some pressure to their defensive game plan—and hear firsthand from someone who's coached at nearly every level of the college game.
