Lions Explode Offensively in 16-6 Win at Spartanburg Methodist

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Bryan Lions baseball team put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the season Monday, piling up 16 runs on 13 hits to take down Spartanburg Methodist 16-6 on the road.

It was a game full of crooked numbers as Bryan scored in five of the first six innings, highlighted by a nine-run fifth that broke things wide open. The Lions were aggressive on the base paths and took advantage of Spartanburg's four errors and six wild pitches.

Freshman shortstop Jackson Smith had a standout day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Garrett Warden also came up big, driving in four runs including a three-run homer in the fifth.

Will Curcio added two hits and two RBIs, while Aiden La finished with two hits, three RBIs, and a key two-run double in the fifth to help bust things open.

On the mound, Carson Jones earned his first win of the year, going four innings and allowing five runs (four earned) with a pair of strikeouts. Bryce Liechty closed it out with three solid innings, giving up just one run and striking out three.

The win moves the Lions to 22-18 on the season. The Lions will face Johnson University in their final home series beginning Friday night at 6:00 PM. Senior Day being Saturday
