SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Bryan College men's golf put together a solid showing at the Ron Marshall Spring Fling, finishing 7th out of 14 teams. Senior Matthew Johnson led the way for the Lions, earning a runner-up finish with a three-round total of 224 (+8).
Johnson's Strong Showing
Johnson was steady all week, opening with an even-par 72, followed by a second round 79, before bouncing back in the final round with a 1-over 73. His tournament included 11 birdies, helping him secure second place in a competitive field.
Team Results
The Lions put together rounds of 315, 318, and 316 for a three-day total of 949 (+85). While Johnson stole the spotlight, his teammates also turned in solid performances:
- Kevin Rothwell finished at 230 (+14), with a strong final round of 77 to help Bryan maintain their position on the leaderboard. He led the team with 32 total pars.
- Caleb Royston battled through three rounds, posting 81-81-86 (248, +32)
- Connor Cartledge carded 84-83-83 (250, +34), staying steady across all three days.
- Asa Hudson, playing as an individual, shot 89-87-80 (256, +40), saving his best for the final round.
