Bryan Falls to Williams Baptist Despite Late Rally

DAYTON, Tenn. — The Bryan College Lady Lions mounted a spirited second-half comeback but ultimately fell short, losing 77-71 to Williams Baptist on Wednesday afternoon at Summers Gymnasium.

Williams Baptist jumped out to a commanding early lead, establishing a 25-14 advantage after the first quarter and never trailing throughout the contest. The Eagles' hot shooting in the opening half, including a 70 percent performance from the field in the second quarter, helped them build a comfortable cushion.

Cha'Myrean Ellis dominated for Williams Baptist, pouring in a game-high 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting while adding seven rebounds. Chelsea Hamilton contributed 16 points with four three-pointers, and Sara Crowe added 16 points and seven rebounds in the balanced offensive effort.

Bryan struggled with shooting efficiency, converting just 36.5 percent from the field and 30.3 percent from three-point range. However, the Lady Lions showed resilience in the second half, outscoring Williams Baptist 39-35 after intermission.

Molly Brown led Bryan's offensive charge with 15 points. Alivia Hall provided a spark off the bench with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, draining four three-pointers. Ruby Cox added 10 points in limited minutes.

The Lady Lions' bench proved to be a bright spot, contributing 43 points compared to just eight for Williams Baptist. Kadee Ferrell battled inside with 12 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Bryan's defense struggled to contain Williams Baptist in the paint, where the Eagles dominated 54-34. The Lady Lions did manage 18 second-chance points compared to five for the visitors, but couldn't overcome their shooting woes and the early deficit.

The loss drops the Lady Lions to 10-3 overall. They will look to regroup as they prepare for #7 Freed Hardeman in a nonconference match up on Saturday.
