Lady Lions Fall to Milligan in Season Finale

DAYTON, Tenn. – The Bryan College Lady Lions closed out their 2025 volleyball season with a 3-1 loss to Milligan University on Thursday evening at Summers Gymnasium, finishing the year with a 2-34 overall record and 1-18 in conference play.

Despite the final score (25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17), the Lady Lions showed resilience throughout the match, particularly in the second set where they claimed their lone victory of the night.

Sophomore right side hitter Leah Lindquist led Bryan's offensive attack with an impressive 18 kills on a .406 hitting percentage. Lindquist's performance highlighted her consistency as one of the team's top offensive threats throughout the season.

Shelby Kelly contributed 16 kills for the Lady Lions, while Bella Beard added 10 kills and four block assists in the middle.  Maya Gipson orchestrated the offense with 32 assists, while Kaci Wade added 21 and recorded a kill of her own. Defensively, Avery Baxter anchored the back row with 19 digs, while Elise Brew contributed 17 digs and three service aces. Jessica Cornelius added 10 digs in limited action.

The match featured several momentum swings, with Bryan taking the second set 25-21 behind strong play from Lindquist and the team's blockers. The Lady Lions also made a spirited comeback in the third set, rallying from a 18-6 deficit to tie the match at 18-18 before ultimately falling 25-23.

Milligan (8-25, 6-13) was paced by Shelby Miller's 20 kills and Bella Devoti's 14 kills. Faith Wilson distributed 48 assists for the Buffaloes, while Grace Sanderson led all players with 18 digs.

The loss concludes a challenging campaign for Bryan College, but the Lady Lions showed continued fight and development throughout the season under difficult circumstances. The program will look to build on individual performances and team chemistry as they prepare for the 2026 season.
