DAYTON, TN- Bryan College senior guard
Ashlan Crittenden has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week following an exceptional two-game stretch that showcased her defensive prowess and leadership on the court.
In Bryan's 74-54 victory over Brenau (GA) on November 19, Crittenden made her presence felt immediately on the defensive end. The standout guard recorded an impressive six steals while contributing eight points, three rebounds, and three assists in 23 minutes of action. Her defensive intensity helped Bryan force 35 turnovers and convert those mistakes into 32 points, setting the tone for the Lions' dominant performance.
Crittenden's ability to disrupt passing lanes and create transition opportunities was evident throughout the contest, as she consistently pressured ball handlers and generated fast-break chances for her teammates.
Just three days later, Crittenden followed up with another strong defensive showing in Bryan's 74-62 road victory at Tennessee Wesleyan on November 22. While her steal total was lower with three, she demonstrated her versatility by adding a blocked shot to her defensive stat line.
Offensively, Crittenden was efficient from the free-throw line, converting all four of her attempts while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists in 21 minutes. Her defensive discipline was notable as well, committing zero turnovers while helping Bryan force 21 turnovers from the Bulldogs.
The two victories improved Bryan's record to 6-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Crittenden's defensive contributions were instrumental in both wins, as the Lady Lions' defense generated a combined 56 turnovers over the two-game span.
This is Ashlan's first weekly honor this season. The Lady Lions will host Spartanburg Methodist College in a home contest at 2:00 pm on November 25th.
