DAYTON, TN- Bryan College cross country runner Carissa Wilson has made history by securing the second automatic qualifying spot from the Appalachian Athletic Conference for the NAIA National Championships, marking a significant milestone for the Lions' women's cross country program.
Wilson delivered a record-breaking performance at the AAC Conference tournament, shattering the 6K school record with a personal-best time of 22:04.07. Her impressive showing earned her a 14th-place finish at the conference meet and 2nd Team All-Conference recognition from the AAC.
The achievement is particularly notable as Wilson becomes the first Bryan College women's cross country athlete to qualify for the national championships in five years, breaking a drought that dates back to 2020. Her automatic qualifying bid ensures she will represent both Bryan College and the Appalachian Athletic Conference on one of the sport's biggest stages.
Wilson will take her talents to Tallahassee, Florida, where she will compete against the nation's top NAIA runners at the 46th Annual NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships. The prestigious event is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025, at Apalachee Regional Park, where the best collegiate cross country athletes from across the country will vie for national honors.
The Bryan College community will be watching closely as Wilson continues her remarkable season and carries the program's colors into national competition for the first time in nearly a decade.
