PIKEVILLE, KY. — The Lady Lions volleyball team dropped to 2-33 overall and 1-17 in conference play after falling to Pikeville 3-1 on Saturday morning at UPike.
The Lions showed fight throughout the match but couldn't overcome the Bears' balanced offensive attack. Pikeville improved to 17-11 overall and 14-3 in conference play with the victory, winning by set scores of 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, and 25-21.
Bryan's lone set victory came in a thrilling second frame where the Lions rallied from multiple deficits. Trailing 24-22, Bryan stormed back with four consecutive points, capped by a
Maddison Seabolt kill, to take the set 26-24.
Ashley Marshall delivered two crucial service aces during the comeback, including one that gave Bryan a 25-24 lead.
The Lions struggled offensively throughout the match, hitting just .101 as a team compared to Pikeville's .360 attacking percentage. Bryan committed 28 attack errors on 119 total attempts while managing only 40 kills.
Shelby Kelly led Bryan with 13 kills but also recorded seven errors.
Bella Beard and
Maddison Seabolt each contributed six kills, while
Presley Giglio added six kills and five block assists. Setter
Kaci Wade distributed 21 assists while adding two service aces, and
Maya Gipson contributed 15 assists in the effort.
Bryan College will look to bounce back as the season enters its final stretch. The Lions have faced a challenging schedule this season and will need to find consistency on both sides of the net to finish strong. Bryan will host their Purple Out Match against Milligan on November 6th at 6:30. They will honor the life of  Alivia Mynes and the rest of the Senior Class.
