Lady Lions Fall in 5-0 decision to Montreat

Dayton, Tenn. – Bryan College struggled to find its rhythm on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-0 to visiting Montreat College in a conference matchup that saw the Lions unable to generate offensive momentum.

The Lions faced an uphill battle early as Montreat's Sawyer Kenney found the net in the 9th minute. Despite efforts to regroup, Bryan surrendered two more goals before halftime, with Sam Aalbue and Rebeca Cruz Manon extending the visitors' lead to 3-0.

The second half brought no relief for the Lions, as Montreat added two more goals to complete the shutout. Aalbue proved particularly troublesome for Bryan's defense, scoring twice on the afternoon.

Bryan's goalkeepers battled throughout the match, with Katie Finch making two saves in the first half before Ava Hooks took over in the second period and added three saves of her own. The duo combined for five saves while facing 10 shots on target from a potent Montreat attack.

The Lions managed just three shots on the afternoon, with only one finding the target. Carmen Verdel recorded Bryan's lone shot on goal in the first half, while Madison Parker and Sarah Horton attempted efforts that went wide. Bryan was limited to a single corner kick compared to Montreat's three, reflecting the visitors' territorial dominance.

The loss drops Bryan to 2-9-1 overall and 1-7-0 in conference play as the Lions continue to search for answers in a challenging season. With several matches remaining, Bryan will look to regroup and find positive results as they work to finish the season on a stronger note.
