Lions Cross Country Shows Promise Heading into AAC Championships

Knoxville, TN- The Bryan College men's and women's cross country teams toed the line at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge in Knoxville, taking on strong conference and national-level competition. Head Coach Jasper Wilson noted that this meet was an excellent opportunity to measure up against some of the region's best programs—and the Lions rose to the challenge.

On the men's side, the team put together a standout performance, with all six athletes setting new personal bests and averaging roughly 40 seconds faster than their previous race. Leading the charge for the Lions was Tayven Guthrie, clocking an impressive 26:31 to pace the group.

For the women, the Lions showed grit and composure despite competing without a full roster. The experience of racing top-tier opponents provided valuable perspective heading into the postseason. Carissa Wilson had a breakthrough race, smashing her previous best and setting a new school record with a time of 18:33, finishing 23rd overall and earning All-Region honors.

With conference championships just two weeks away, the Lions are confident and motivated to keep building on this momentum.
