Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bryan Women's Soccer Battles Hard in Loss to Dalton State

The Bryan College women's soccer team showed resilience but ultimately fell 6-3 to Dalton State in a challenging home match on August 20, 2024.
Dalton State took control early, with Guadalupe Martinez opening the scoring in the 9th minute, assisted by Ria Cox. Ana Silva doubled their lead in the 19th minute with a well-executed goal following a combined effort from Lauren Wright and Riley Bennett.

Despite a tough first half, the Lions came out strong in the second half. Ruth Fish sparked Bryan's offense in the 56th minute, scoring with an assist from Macy Moore. Although Dalton State extended their lead with two more goals, Bryan continued to fight back. Kayleigh Ridley found the net twice, once in the 67th minute and again in the 89th minute, both assisted by Ruth Fish, to bring the Lions within striking distance.

However, Dalton State's attack proved too much for Bryan's defense, with a total of six goals from Dalton St. Bryan's goalkeeper, Morgan Pankratz, had a busy day, making 12 saves to keep the Lions competitive.

Team Stats:
  • Saves: Dalton State 1, Bryan 12
  • Corner Kicks: Dalton State 8, Bryan 3
  • Fouls: Dalton State 4, Bryan 5
.Coach Tom Halsall had this to say following the game: ""Of course, I'm disappointed about the general scoreline but it's not a true reflection of the quality we showed at times. I will say the first half we were second best but did create some chances! However, the team came together and never gave up, creating a thrilling atmosphere and a second half performance that made us proud. We scored some good goals and with time, can definitely strengthen at the back".

Next Game: The Lady Lions have back to back scrimmages, but return home for a Senior Night September 7th vs. Pikeville.
