Williamsburg, KY: The Lady Lions held the University of Mobile Rams to just 32% from the field Friday and defeated the Rams 66-49 to advance to the Round of 32 in the NAIA Women's Championship Tournament.
The Lions were led by Junior Torie Brooks with 19 points on 7-13 from the field. Senior Samantha Russell finished with a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
It was a tight game early with Bryan leading Mobile 15-18 with 4:56 left in the 2nd quarter. The Lady Lions would go on to out score the Rams 11-5 to end the half capped off by back to back buckets from senior Kaitlynn Hennessee to give Bryan a 20-29 lead going into the half.
Coming out of the half, the Rams would tighten up their defense and cut the lead to 37-38 going into the 4th. The Rams would carry their momentum into the 4th quarter and eventually took a 44-40 lead over the Lady Lions. But the Lions would find their rhythm and would then go on a 14-0 run. The Lions would only allow 5 points to the Rams the rest of the game. Taking the 49 to 66 win.
"I'm just proud of our WANT to win tonight. I'm proud of the way we came out and guarded. We made stops and make big shots down the stretch. Tomorrow is going to be tough, and I always look forward to playing Rick (UC Head Coach). We know each other so well, that it will make it a great matchup" said Lions head Coach

The Lady Lions will be back Saturday (3/16) at 3:00 PM to take on the host team and #3 seed University of the Cumberlands Patriots. Bryan and the Cumberlands have played each other twice already this season. Bryan took the first game 81-71, while the Cumberlands took the second game
73-69.
