Dayton, TN - The Lions needed their rally caps in game 1 of the weekend series vs. the Truett McConnell Bears to get the 14-10 win. It was a seven run bottom of the 9th that was capped off by a
Bradley Prince walk off grand slam that put the Lions on top. Prince finished 3 for 5 and had 6 RBIs.
Luke Townsend earned the win for the Lions in game 1. Townsend pitched two scoreless innings and had 2 strikeouts on the day. Cade Cook also performed well going 2 for 3 at the plate, 1 homerun, with 2 RBIs and walked twice. Cook's homerun sparked the Lions late in the 7th to swing the momentum back in the Lions' favor.
In Game 2 both offenses were in full swing, but a 5 run 5th inning from Truett was too much to overcome in the 7 inning game for the lions.
Bryan was down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 2nd. After a couple of runners were walked, it was back to back singles from Bradley Prince and Tyler Cullen that tied the game up at 3-3. With all the momentum rolling Bryan's way, Bryson Lofton stepped up and hit a 3 run home run the very next at bat. After Lofton, Darwin Gregg wanted to join in and he hit a solo home run to give Bryan a 7 to 3 lead to cap off a seven run 2nd inning.
Bryan carried a 10 to 5 lead going into the top of the 5th, but three home runs by Truett McConnell in the inning would tie the ball game 10-10. After TMU held the Lions and then scored two more in the 6th the Lions would be down again going late in the ball game. A Dante Morton solo homer in the bottom of the 6th would give Bryan life, but would be held scoreless and fall 12-11 in game two.
With the split Bryan goes to 14-12 overall and 6-7 in the AAC.
Next Time out:
The Lions will be back home at Senter Field at 2:00 PM Saturday for game three of the conference series vs. Truett McConnell.
