Lions Split on Day 1 of Cajun Collision

STERLINGTON, LA — The Bryan College Lions Baseball traveled to Sterlington, LA to play in the Cajun Collision Tournament hosted by NAIA Ball Thursday and Friday for a 4 game stint. The Lions split the day one games losing the first game to LSU-Alexandria 7-3 and then winning the second game vs. SAGU 7-1. 

GAME 1:

The Lions went down 7-0 headed into the fifth inning, but tried to start a rally in the 6th inning scoring the last three runs of the game. But it was too little too late. Errors cost the Lions vs. LSUA, as they committed 5 errors in game 1.

How it Happened:
  • LSUA started 1-0 in the bottom of the first after a single brought in a runner.
  • LSUA scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead
  • LSUA scored one more in the bottom of the 4th on a single to left
  • Mason Parker would get Bryan on the board with a single to bring in Senior Bryson Lofton (7-1)
  • Owen Napierals would immediately follow up Parker with a double to center to bring in Daniel Dryden to cut the lead to 7-2. 
  • In the top of the 7th Bryan would get their final score of the game on a Daniel Dryden single to bring in Cade Cook. 7-3


GAME 2:
The Lions would start just moments later for Game 2 of their afternoon to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University. The Lions would clean up the fielding and use their momentum at the plate to take this game 7-1. 

How it Happened:
  • Mason Parker hits a solo shot in the top of the 2nd to give Bryan its first run. 
  • Cade Cook would come right after with a solo shot of his own to go up 2-0. 
  • A Tyler Cullen single brought in Bradley Prince to give Bryan a 3-0 lead and keep the scoring going in the top of the 2nd.
  • David Walker earned his 6th of 12 Strikeouts, after a three up three down bottom of the 3rd.
  • The Lions would go up 5-0 on an Owen Napierals single brings in Bryson Lofton to score.
  • SAGU would get their only run of the day on a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th.
  • Owen Napierals would cap off the Lions day with 2 run home run in top of the 6th. 


Next Time out: 
The Lions will be back at the Sterlington Sports Complex Friday Morning for Day 2 of the Cajun Collision at 9:30 AM CST to take on UASO and Freed-Hardeman at 12:30 PM CST.
