Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Lions Record Shooting Night Leads to Win Over Union

Dayton, TN - The Bryan College Women's Basketball took on the Union College Bulldogs on Senior Night, Wednesday inside Summers Gymnasium. The Lions tied a school record 21 threes last night to cruise to a 112-55 win over the Bulldogs.

The game began with a back and forth, and Bryan holding onto a 9-6 lead, until the Lady Lions started making a flurry of threes. The Lady Lions hit four straight threes inside a 14-2 run to take a 23-8 lead with 2:30 left in the 1st quarter. Senior Samantha Russell would finish the first quarter 3-4 from three. The Lady Bulldogs cut the lead back to single digits, until senior Megan Easterday hit 3 straight three pointers to give the Lady Lions a 45-30 lead and get Summers Gym rocking.

The Lions had ten made threes coming out of the half, and the Lions felt the record was in play. Allissa Mulaski would start, hitting a wing three off an assist from Kaitlynn Hennessee at the 5:51 mark in the 3rd. Torie Brooks hit back to back threes to end the 3rd quarter, with Bryan ahead 82-48. Brooks would lead the way in the 3rd quarter going 3-4 from behind the arc.

The 4th quarter was all Bryan as they were six threes away from tying the record. Samantha Russell would knock one down right out of the gate in the fourth quarter and go on to hit 3-5 from downtown in the 4th, but it was Megan Easterday who hit the record tying three with 32 seconds left and give the Lady Lions the 112-55 win.

Looking Forward: The Lady Lions will potentially be facing Reinhardt University on Monday 2/26 for a tiebreaker 1st place game and an NAIA National Tournament Qualifier. Reinhardt has to beat Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday, at TWU, to earn the tiebreaker game. If Reinhardt loses on Saturday, there would be no tiebreaker and the Lady Lions will be your AAC outright conference champion and earn the NAIA qualifier. AAC tournament also begins next Wednesday 2/28 in Kingsport, TN.
