Lions Fall Short On Senior Night Against Top Ranked Union

Dayton, TN- The Bryan Lions had a tough task on hand with the AAC current #1 seeded Union Bulldogs coming into Summers Gym for Senior Night. The Lions just couldn't quite hold on, as they fell to the Bulldogs 78-69.

The Senior starters came ready to play, as the Lions began the 1st half on a 14-2 run capped off by a Caleb Grimes three pointer to force a Union time out at the 16:30 mark. The Bulldogs trimmed the lead to 8 points, until a monster dunk by Logan Allen off a beautiful pass from Ian Johnson gave the Lions a 23-13 lead with 9:43 to go in the half. It was the Bulldogs finishing the half on a 13-4 run that began to shift the momentum.

As the second half began, the Lions up 38-32, Union began to use their size and attack inside. Union would score 6 straight points in the paint to start the half. From the 15:30 point on, the game would have 8 lead changes. Both teams played at a high level trading buckets in the paint. With the 7:38 left in the game, Union took the lead (58-56) on a corner three, a lead they would not relinquish. Despite a rally of back to back three pointers from seniors Ian Johnson and Caleb Grimes in the final minute, the Bulldogs made their free throws and took the win.
