DAYTON, TN - The Bryan College Softball team swept the Oakwood University Ambassadors 2-0 Tuesday Night. Winning game one 1-0 and game two with a final of 7-2. With the win, Bryan moves to 2-2 overall.
Game one was a defensive duel, but a solo home run from
Breanna Bumgardner in the bottom of the 5th would be the only score of the game.
Both pitchers controlled the mound in game 1. Bryan's Payton Reasons would pitch a 1 hit shutout. Reasons finished with 9 strikeouts and only walked 3 batters.
Game two both teams would find some offense. It would be Oakwood who struck first. A trio of singles and good base running would give Oakwood their first point of the night and give them a 1-0 lead after the first, after following that up with three up and three down for Bryan.
Oakwood would cross home plate again in the 2nd after an errant throw from Bryan, giving the ambassadors a 2-0 lead.
It was the bottom of the 4th when Bryan would hit their stride off an Aubree Presley solo home run. With a few more Lions getting on base, a Haley Stahl single would bring in 2 more for the Lady Lions. Keanna Burd would bring in Stahl the next at bat to make it 4-2. Cali Green would double to bring in Burd, and follow it up by stealing third. Savanna Beard would top off a spectacular 4th inning, bringing in Green on a blooper single.
The Lady Lions would hold onto the 6-2 lead until an odd play of official miscommunication, lead to an Aubree Presley score from a fielder's choice decision. Giving Bryan the final score of the night 7-2.

The Lady Lions will begin conference play Friday 2/23, back at home for a doubleheader versus Columbia International University starting at 5:00 PM.
