Dayton, TN- The Bryan College Baseball Team hosted Lindsey Wilson University on Tuesday night. Bryan entered the game as heavy favorites with a 9-4 record. The game was a back and forth affair with Lindsey Wilson coming out the victors 10-9.
The first four innings were all Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders had slowly but surely built a 5-0 lead including a 3 run fourth inning. The Lions faced a large deficit with no meaningful at-bats until Senior Daniel Dryden hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth. The Lions would gain another run after Senior Devin Ogg reached second on a Lindsey Wilson error. From there Ogg scored on a Cade Cook double. Cook was able to advance to third before Senior Danny Marquez and Senior Bradley Prince both recorded outs at the end of the inning.
The top of the fifth inning was unproductive for Lindsey Wilson but the bottom was anything but. Daniel Dryden once again homered, this time for a two run shot to put two more runs on the board for the Lions. The Lions were unable to put anymore on the board. Lindsey Wilson put up two more in the top of the 6th to take a 7-4 lead.
The Lions were able to add several runs in the bottom of the 6th and 7th innings. Notably, a three run 6th inning started with a Danny Marquez single and a Bradley Prince walk. Tyler Cullen would hit a double to drive both runs in for a two run RBI double. Cade Cook and Owen Napierals hit in two more in the seventh, giving the Lions a 9-7 lead.
The game came down to the 9th inning. Lindsey Wilson hit in three runs in the top of the 9th. Unfortunately, the bottom was very uneventful leading to a Blue Raider win.
Result: With the loss, Bryan falls to 9-5, while Lindsey Wilson gets to .500 at 6-6.
Looking Forward: The Lions are back in action on the road vs. The University of Pikeville on 2/23 and 2/24.
